か～か

How it works

Used to list alternatives — "A or B." Each noun (or clause) is followed by か, presenting two or more choices. The か after the final item is often dropped: 「コーヒーかお茶（か）」. With nouns it expresses a simple "or"; it can also embed a choice within a larger sentence (e.g. before a verb of deciding).

選択肢を並べて「AかBか」を表します。各名詞（または節）の後に「か」を付け、二つ以上の選択肢を示します。最後の項目の後の「か」はよく省略されます：「コーヒーかお茶（か）」。名詞では単純な「または」を表し、より大きな文の中に選択を埋め込むこともできます（決める動詞の前など）。

Notes

• The か after the final item is usually omitted: 「AかB」rather than 「AかBか」.最後の項目の後の「か」は普通省略します：「AかBか」より「AかB」。
• For nouns, the particle (を, に, で, etc.) attaches AFTER the か-list: 「コーヒーか紅茶を」.名詞では、助詞（を・に・で等）は「か」で並べた後に付けます：「コーヒーか紅茶を」。
• Do not confuse this listing か with the sentence-final question か.この列挙の「か」と文末の疑問の「か」を混同しないようにしましょう。
