How it works
Indicates that two things are roughly equal in degree or extent. 「AはBと同じくらい～」means "A is about as ~ as B." くらい (also written ぐらい) adds the nuance of "about / approximately," so it expresses an equal but not exact degree.
二つのものが程度や量においてほぼ等しいことを表します。「AはBと同じくらい～」で「AはBとほぼ同じくらい～だ」という意味です。「くらい（ぐらい）」は「およそ・だいたい」のニュアンスを加えるので、完全に同じではなく同程度であることを示します。

Notes
- くらい and ぐらい are interchangeable here; both are common.「くらい」と「ぐらい」はどちらも使え、互換性があります。
- The thing being compared to is marked with と, not より.比較する相手は「より」ではなく「と」で示します。
- Without くらい, 「Bと同じ」simply means "the same as B" (identical), while 「Bと同じくらい」means "about the same degree as B."「くらい」がない「Bと同じ」は「Bと同一」の意味ですが、「Bと同じくらい」は「Bと同程度」の意味になります。
