いくら

How it works

いくら is the question word used to ask the price or quantity of something. To ask the price, you typically say [Noun] は いくら ですか. It can also ask amounts of money or, more broadly, an unspecified quantity.

「いくら」は値段や量をたずねるときに使う疑問詞です。値段を聞くときは「〜はいくらですか」と言います。お金の額や、漠然とした量をたずねるときにも使えます。

Notes

• いくら asks 'how much (money/amount)'; use 何個（なんこ）or 何枚（なんまい）for counting discrete objects.「いくら」は金額や量をたずねます。数えられる物の個数は「何個」「何枚」などを使います。
• Don't confuse with the conjunction いくら〜ても ('no matter how much'), which is a different N4/N3 usage.「いくら〜ても」（どんなに〜しても）の用法とは別物なので注意しましょう。
