How it works
どんな is placed before a noun to ask what kind or type of thing it is, or to describe nature/quality. It is the everyday equivalent of the more formal どのような.
名詞の前について、その物事の種類や性質をたずねたり描写したりします。どのようなの、よりくだけた日常的な言い方です。

Notes
- どんな always needs a following noun; it cannot stand alone.どんなは必ず後ろに名詞が必要で、単独では使えません。
- どんな asks about kind/nature, while どの asks you to choose a specific one from a known group.どんなは種類・性質をたずね、どのは決まった範囲の中から特定の一つを選ばせます。
