How it works
~たところだ expresses that an action has just been completed a moment ago — the timing is the focus, emphasizing that very little time has passed since the action finished. Often used with たった今 or ちょうど.
Formation
Examples
I've just this moment arrived at the station.
The meeting just finished, so I can call you now.
I just woke up and haven't eaten anything yet.
Notes
- ~たところだ focuses on timing (just now). Compare ~たばかりだ, which can describe something that happened a while ago but feels recent to the speaker.~たところだは「タイミング(たった今)」を重視します。
- Because it marks an exact moment, it pairs well with たった今 / ちょうど rather than 'three days ago'.
